Whether you live for cold, crispy weather, or you're just gritting your teeth and dragging yourself through until spring, there's at least one thing that makes the darker seasons infinitely better: Lauren Manoogian's knits.

A Cedar & Hyde darling since the beginning, Lauren doesn't require much of an introduction to those who already know and love her impeccably executed coats, sweaters, and knit accessories. To those who have yet to wrap themselves in her dreamy, often-copied-but-never-replicated designs knit in Peru of the softest, squishiest blends of organic alpaca, merino and cashmere, her newest collection is the perfect place to start.

Along with this fall's batch of cozy, sumptuous coats, shaggy sherpa knits, elevated one-and-done jumpsuits and dresses, essential cold weather accessories and hand-crafted leather shoes, Lauren and her partner Chris have shared some of their creative inspiration (they even made a Spotify playlist to go along with the collection!). Their seemingly bottomless well of passion for this work is manifested in their new short film Process and Focus, a cinematic across Peru and a glimpse into the who, what and where of these beloved products.

In the designer's words:

"We put all of ourselves into the work we do. It’s not usually glamorous but is very rewarding and never boring. This project was a long time in the making, 15 years to be exact. My first trip to Peru changed my life and gave me the opportunity to explore textiles in the way I had always dreamed. I feel most comfortable being behind the scenes, lost in the process, collaborating and making. Knowing the people and processes intimately on all levels not only informs design but also the motivation to keep pushing forward together. Revealing and reflecting the nuances of this process in the final pieces has always been the goal but inevitably it can’t encapsulate the whole story. Hopefully this film opens a small window into the journey."

We're always thankful to work with artists and designers who put so much thought and care into every aspect of their work, and who are willing to share a glimpse of what goes into each of these pieces with us and our customers.
